5 Things You Didn't Know About Classical Yoga

    No Physical Adjustments: Teachers do not physically touch or adjust you. Touch disturbs your unique energy geometry; alignment must come from your own internal awareness.

    No Music or Mirrors: Silence is sacred. Music draws your attention outward, and mirrors turn yoga into a performance. Keeping your eyes closed lets you stop looking at yourself and start being with yourself.

    Empty Stomach is Crucial: Practicing on a full stomach forces the body to focus on digestion. An empty stomach allows your energies to rise upward, making the body light and vibrant.

Attend or book a program and learn the practice. Once you complete the program, you will be able to do the practice on your own. Post-program support is also available.

At home, you can do the practice by yourself and incorporate it into your daily life. This gives you the convenience of practicing where and when you want.

Attend a review session

After some time, if you wish to deepen your practice or receive corrections, you can attend a review session.

Upa-Yoga

Upa-yoga is a simple yet powerful system of exercise that activate the joints, muscles and energy system. Based on a sophisticated understanding of the body’s mechanics, Upa-yoga brings great ease to the whole system. It relieves physical stress and tiredness. Within the human system, the energy flows along 72,000 pathways called nadis. At the joints, the nadis form energy nodes, making the joints into storehouses of energy. Upa-yoga activates this energy and also lubricates the joints, creating an instant sense of alertness and liveliness. It rejuvenates the body after a period of inactivity and negates the effects of jetlag and long travel.

Surya Shakti

"Surya" means "Sun," and "Shakti" means "energy". It is a dynamic form of the Sun Salutation designed to build the physical body and strengthen sinews. In Yoga, we give importance to the sinews that hold the skeletal system and the whole body together. When we do any yogic practice, which is physical in nature, the focus is mainly to strengthen those, not to pump up your muscles. Strengthening the sinews of the body is what will endure for a long time and keep you well. Surya Shakti does this in a tremendous way.

About the Teacher

Hi, my name is Sankalp. Since childhood, I naturally possessed a deep longing to experience higher dimensions of energy. In my early twenties, I tried various tools to explore this learning yoga through books and videos but the moment I stumbled upon the practices offered by Isha, I knew there was no looking back or searching elsewhere.

In March 2018, while in my 3rd year at Trinity College Dublin, I attended the Inner Engineering program in Dublin and had a profoundly transformative experience. This inspired me to learn furthur Isha practices and I learnt Classical Hatha Yoga from a local teacher.

I completed the rigorous Teacher Training Program at the Isha Yoga Center in India and became a Classical Hatha Yoga teacher, officially certified by Sadhguru Gurukulam, in December 2025.

After six years of dedicated daily practice, I am deeply moved to contribute to Sadhguru’s vision of global well-being by offering these transformative tools to the world.
